Exploring The World of Digital Marketing in the philippines

College life by Jay Cuenca.

COLLEGE LIFE

After finishing high school, I really didn’t know which course I wanted to take in college. Since I enjoyed playing games on the computer, I thought, “Why not choose a computer-related course?” It came down to either computer engineering or computer science. Since I didn’t like math, I picked computer science. Little did I know that this course was loaded with math subjects (which was kind of funny for me, haha). Honestly, I really thought this course would be easy and all about playing games. Well, it’s not—jokes on me!

This was when I was introduced to programming and the real use of a computer. Over the span of four years, I learned a lot, including hardware and software installation. I also learned about algorithms and data analysis.

I learned how to disassemble and assemble a computer, install the operating system, and set up other software programs. I created games like tic-tac-toe and minesweeper, and even developed my own game that runs on mobile phones. Additionally, I learned how to edit photos and videos.

Above all, I enjoyed developing and designing websites the most. Solving technical problems was difficult, but I genuinely enjoyed it. It was challenging, and I felt bliss every time I solved a problem that was new to me. It was like a kid getting a new toy—such happiness!

Fast forward, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2012. I was so happy at that time. My mother didn’t even know I was going to graduate because she knew I had failed some of my minor subjects (P.E. and Psychology), haha. But I passed them in the last semester of the school year. P.S. I just ditched those subjects because I was kind of addicted to computer games at that time. Haha, love you, Ma. 😁

And I really thought that this was the end, but no, this is just the beginning of real life. Oh boy!

DATA ENTRY SPECIALIST (MEDICAL HEALTHCARE ACCOUNTS)

For the past ten years, I’ve been working as a Data Entry Specialist in the healthcare industry. My data entry specialist responsibilities include processing medical claim forms and UB forms, with a particular focus on patient hospital bills. I also handle government business documents, where attention to detail is crucial, especially when it comes to following specific keywords and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

I’m skilled at managing multiple tasks at once, including maintaining detailed reporting documentation and overseeing the appropriate processes. Every project I receive begins with a thorough analysis—I dive deep into the assignment, understand its logic, and then test it using the preferred systems to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Over the years, I’ve earned a reputation for accuracy and efficiency. I take pride in fulfilling my data entry specialist responsibilities, knowing that my work plays a key role in maintaining seamless healthcare data management.

ENTREPRENEUR

Dig Deep Supply: A Love for Music, Made into Merch.

Dig Deep is an independent clothing brand from Dipolog City, established in 2011 out of a shared passion for music. Originally founded by Antetz Castillon, I later became a co-owner. Our goal was to create more than just shirts—we wanted to offer something that truly resonates with people who live and breathe the energy of metal and rock music.

From our initial focus on band shirts to a broader range of offerings, Dig Deep has continuously evolved. We’ve strived to maintain authenticity while pushing creative boundaries, ensuring that our designs remain fresh and relevant. Despite the passage of time, our unwavering dedication to the music scene and our commitment to producing exceptional gear for passionate fans remain steadfast.

Running a business has been a journey filled with both exhilaration and challenges, but it’s a labor of love. We prioritize creating designs that connect with our community—people who live and breathe music. Through steady growth and innovation, we’ve consistently introduced fresh styles to our lineup.

As a co-owner, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship demands a willingness to take risks, embrace innovation, and remain dedicated to one’s craft. With Dig Deep still thriving, my goal is to continue pushing boundaries, expanding our brand, and creating apparel that truly speaks to our audience.

Dig Deep Supply Social Media

SEO SPECIALIST

While working with my brand, I realized something was missing. I soon discovered that marketing isn’t just about posting products on social media; there’s much more to it. I understood that I needed to promote my products without resorting to annoying advertisements. In my search for effective strategies, I came across SEO and became curious about it. After conducting my research, I recognized that SEO is a subtle yet powerful marketing approach. I use the term ‘subtle’ because many people are unaware of its significance, even though it can greatly impact businesses that have their own website.

Digital marketing in the Philippines is rapidly growing as businesses recognize the power of online platforms to reach a wider audience. Companies are leveraging digital strategies, from social media marketing to SEO, to enhance brand visibility and connect with customers. With more Filipinos spending time online, businesses are shifting their focus to digital channels, making it essential to have an effective online presence. Digital marketing in the country offers a cost-effective way to engage with local and international markets, providing businesses with the tools they need to stay competitive in the digital age.

While studying SEO, I initially found it challenging to fully grasp the concepts. To improve, I enrolled in a boot camp offering courses in SEO and web development using WordPress, with the help of SOVA (Top Virtual Assistant (VA) Training Courses in Cebu Philippines – SOVA – School of Virtual Assistance Cebu) and Coach Leandro Padilla. Now, I have a better understanding of how to increase web traffic and attract online interest in my products. I am eager to continue exploring and learning more about digital marketing to enhance my skills as an SEO specialist and gain insights into other platforms.

Ultimately, I realized that my true passion lies in creating websites, where I can apply SEO strategies. This realization prompted me to quit my job as a Data Entry Specialist and pursue a career as an SEO specialist and digital marketer. The knowledge I gained in college about programming and web design has significantly impacted my career today. Additionally, I have developed effective SEO strategies that allow me to assist others struggling to generate sales or organic traffic on their websites and help them promote their products effectively.

Here's a fun fact about me that most people don't know.

VOCALIST

I'm the vocalist of a metal band called BURNHAM and it’s where I pour my energy and passion into music. There's nothing like stepping on stage and delivering raw, intense vocals that bring our sound to life. Performing allows me to connect with the audience on a deep level and create an unforgettable experience every time. Music has always been a huge part of who I am, and being in a metal band gives me the freedom to push my limits and dive into the power and emotion of the genre.

SKATER

When I was in college, I used to skate sometimes to stay active and challenge myself. I'm not a pro skater, but I know a few tricks, like the basic ollie and kickflip. I skate mainly because it's a fun way to exercise and stay in shape.
